Washington, DC: Become a Notary: A DC Notary Public is commissioned by the Secretary of the District of Columbia for a 5-year term. An application fee is required.
District of Columbia Requirements:
- You must be at least 18 years of age.
- You must reside or work in Washington, DC.
- You must complete notary public training.
- You must present a notary surety bond or a document showing you have paid a fee to cover the public in the event that you make an error in the performance of your notary duties.
