Tennessee: Become A Notary: Tennessee Notaries are elected for a 4-year term by the county legislative body in the county in which the applicant resides or works. An application fee is required.

Tennessee Requirements:

  • You must be at least 18 years of age
  • At the time of election, you must be a resident of or maintain a principal place of business in the county in which you are elected.
  • If you are a not a Tennessee resident, you must have your principal place of business in any Tennessee county and be elected a notary in that
  • county
